It does not always need a week to hit the road, to wind down the windows and get your hair messy in the wind and smell the sea in the air and feel free. We took a roadtrip like a power nap – short and dreamy.

Start: Melbourne.
Direction: South.
Time: 24 hours.

Ingredients: a car for 24 hours. Banana bread for the way. A peninsula like Mornington with the sea nearby on every side. Water to snorkel, waves to surf, the horizon to watch. A spot on a bench facing the sea, looking out on the sunset. A box of Three Little Creatures. A cloudless sky to watch the stars. And in the morning: the divine picture of waves rolling and dancing towards the beach when you wake up in your sleeping bag.

Then it’s time to rise & shine again.
